July 19 Community Book Swap
Join us before the July 19 Roxxy Hall Concert for a free Community Book/Game/Puzzle Swap on the Civic Campus Plaza!
Bring a Book/Game/Puzzle
Drop-off your good condition books/games/puzzles on the following dates to be included in the swap:
- July 11-19 from 8-4:30 to City Hall
- July 12 from 4:30 to 7 to City Hall
- July 19 from 4:30-6 to the Plaza
Please have items sorted by the following categories to help with set-up:
- Adult fiction books
- Adult non-fiction books
- Young adult books
- Children's books
We will not be accepting the following items:
- Items in poor condition
Take a Book
Stop by the swap on the plaza from 6-7:30 to grab some new books/puzzles/games. You do not need to bring any items to take items. Any items left after the swap will be donated or distributed in the community.
Staff are not monitoring donated items for content. Items at the swap do not represent the opinions or positions of the City of Fridley.
August 10 Chalk the Walk & Kid's Book Swap
Join us before the Jolly Pops concert at Commons Park to spread positivity and get artsy! Each artist will be provided with the tools to spread joy, optimism and inspiration using sidewalk chalk. Chalk art begins at 10:30 a.m. and is free & open to all!
Bring a kid's book to share and grab a new kid's book before the Jolly Pops concert!

Join us this summer for music in our parks! Music will be provided by the Fridley City Band. All concerts take place at 7pm on Monday, except for the 49ers Day Pre-Parade Concert at Commons Park. Bring your family, friends neighbors, a lawn chair and join us for a lovely, musical evening!

Wet N Wild
Get ready for an afternoon of water fun at Commons Park! There will be a giant slip ‘n slide, lots of sprinklers, water toys, water balloons and more. Back by popular demand, the Fridley Fire Department will bring out an engine and hose to really get you soaked! Wear a swimsuit and sunscreen and bring a towel. Registration is required.

Come one, Come all for carnival games, puppet shows, face painting, hayrides, popcorn and beverages! This is a family-friendly event.
Activities will range from 10 ‐ 50 cents, so bring your change for an afternoon of fun! ($5 punch passes can be purchased at the event﴿. No need to sign up in advance.
1 p.m. - 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Commons Park.

Winter Recreation Pop-up Events
Join your friends for some outdoor winter fun! Fridley Recreation staff will provide bonfires, smores, hot cocoa, and recreation activities for everyone. These events are free and no registration is required.

2021 City of Fridley Winter Lights Contest
The Fridley Winter Lights Contest is back!
Thank you so much to all the participants for entering and brightening the holiday season in Fridley. Our judges have gone out and winners have been crowned, now it’s time for you to get out and see the lights yourself! The winter lights tour can be enjoyed in may different ways but we encourage you to take the full tour which will take you approximately 1.5 – 2 hours depending on how long you stop and admire the lights.
There three different ways for you to navigate your way around Fridley to admire the lights:
Option 1: We have added all of the houses on our tour to a Google map route. This is an excellent option for those who are looking to do the entire Winter Lights Tour. Start at house 1 (260 Rice Creek BLVD NE) and continue your route from there. The most direct route has been selected for you. Avoid taking alternative routes google proposes if you wish to stay on the most efficient route. Link to Google Maps
Option 2: Esri Webapp has all addresses marked with directions attached for you to follow, once you click on a house number. This is a good way to make your own route or see the closest houses to where you live. Link to Esri Webmap
Option 3: All addresses are on the physical/digital copy of the winter lights map. You can visit all category winners and bright spots through the city!

For those of you looking for a way to keep the light tour extra exciting, we have some winter light bingo cards! Bring these with you out on your light tour and mark a box when you see certain winter light displays. Hard copies are available at Fridley City Hall!

Environmental Fun Fair
May 7th 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Springbrook Nature Center. This event is FREE to attend.
Fridley Parks and Recreation, Anoka County 4H, and the Springbrook Nature Center are excited to announce the return of the Fridley Environmental Fun Fair in 2022! The Environmental Fun Fair will feature environmental educators, informational booths, interpretive trail walks, and hands on learning. We will connect with the amazing outdoor assets of the Springbrook Nature Center trails amphitheater, and water resources.
Fun Run & Hike
A new addition to the event this year will be a fun run and hike that will offer fun exhibits and activities around the Springbrook Nature Center trails. This activity is free but we ask that you bring at least one nonperishable food item as the "cost" of this event. All food donations will be given to food shelves in Fridley.

Fridley Earth Week kicks off on Arbor Day, April 29, throughout the week we encourage you to participate in a variety of activities that support a healthy environment, including: a park clean-up day, story walks, scavenger hunts, and more!
